About
I am Dr. Abhishek Basu, working as an Assistant Professor and a Ph.D. supervisor in Department of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, Sripat Singh College, Jiaganj. I did my Ph.D. in Biochemistry from CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Biology (IICB) and University of Calcutta. Currently, I am working on two projects sanctioned by West Bengal Department of Science and Technology & Biotechnology (WBDST & BT) on soil and water quality analysis, heavy metal Bio-remediation, design of Bio-filter and Bio-fertilizer in our BOOST-sponsored laboratory. I have published research articles and book chapters in reputed journals with internationally acclaimed publishers (Springer Nature, Elsevier, Wiley periodicals, Biomed-central, Taylor & Francis, etc.). I predominantly, work on Isolation of bacteria from their native habitat, Biochemical characterization, Identification and functional & genetic analysis using standard Biochemical tests, Molecular Biology experiments, Scanning electron microscopy, 16S rDNA sequencing, Whole genome sequencing, etc. My main objective is to translate our research from the laboratory to the field. For this, our research group has already filed a patent and we have a collaboration with Vivekananda Institute of Biotechnology, Nimpith. I have qualified research entrances like CSIR-NET, UGC-NET, GATE and SET. I also possess an M.B.A. in Financial Management. |
